Project Car - Achievements
2/16/14 - First All Motor Maxima to bust into the 11s! New World Record!
Today we ran an 11.97 @ 113.3mph with a 1.77 60'. Since our last update, we have installed several prototype high stall torque converters from Edge Racing. As of today, we are seeing a 3800 stall. We hope to be able to achieve a 4K+ stall in the near future.
10/30/10 - New World Record for the NWP Engineering Project Maxima ONCE AGAIN!
We made some changes to our torque converter and went with a higher stall (3600rpm). This drastically improved our 60' as expected, but it hurt our trap speed. So even though we had a little better weather, we were only able to improve on our record by a hundredth of a second. We ran a 12.04 @ 113.2mph.
And since our last track outing, we updated our standalone transmission computer program. It now allows us to switch shift maps on the fly. This means we are able to do a 2nd gear burnout and switch shift maps for our 1/4 mile run. This means the slicks get a lot hotter and stickier compared to only doing a 1st gear burnout as we were forced to do before.
We are currently working on a new torque converter prototype with Edge Racing Converters in Southern California. We hope to be able to launch above 4500rpm without sacrificing our trap speed.
4/9/10 - New World Record for the NWP Engineering Project Maxima AGAIN AGAIN!
The weather conditions were much better tonight, but the traction was much worse so we were not able to hook up. But we were able to set a new world record with a 1/4 mile pass of 12.05 @ 114.5mph. If the track prep was better, we would have ran high 11s without a doubt. But since this was a regular street legal test and tune event, the track didn't take the time to prep the track throughout the night.
4/2/10 - New World Record for the NWP Engineering Project Maxima AGAIN!
Tonight, we were able to better our current world record with a 1/4 mile pass of 12.15 @ 113.8 mph. The track conditions weren't as good as our previous track visit, but with the increased HP we were able to get from our dyno tuning session at National Speed, we were able to set a new record.
12/20/09 - New World Record for the NWP Engineering Project Maxima!
On a nice sunny day in December, the NWP Engineering VQ35 Power'd 92 Nissan Maxima ran a 12.22 1/4 mile ET in order to become the new world record holder for the fastest All Motor Nissan Maxima! No nitrous, no turbo, no supercharger! Just a 4 door sedan with an automatic transmission buzzing down the track at eyebrow raising speeds!
Our best time of the day was a 12.22 @ 112.7 mph with a 1.88 60 foot. We feel the car can go much faster and will see 11s within the next few months. Stay tuned for updates!
6/29/09 - The NWP Engineering Project Maxima wins the All Motor Maxima Unlimited class at MAXUS 09 Drag Showdown!
The NWP Engineering Project Maxima was able to beat the fastest All Motor Maximas in the world. The finals came down to the single two fastest NA Maximas in the entire world. Jim Edwards owns the world record for the fastest Maxima 1/4 mile time with a 10.85 with nitrous. He also owns the world record for the fastest All Motor Maxima 1/4 mile pass with an ET of 12.3. The NWP Engineering Maxima was barely able to edge him out with a 12.80 ET to his 12.88 ET. The weather was very hot, so no new Maxima 1/4 mile records were set. But continue to check back often since we hope to start posting some very low 12 second ALL MOTOR 1/4 mile passes very soon!
